Dahvi Fradkin Neelis
My work since last September has centered around the
question of whether I can paint in the open air every day for an
entire year. So far, the answer has been "yes." This challenge has
been enriching in more ways than I anticipated. What started as
an excercise in discipline and resilience led to a practice based
in experimentation and many surprises. As my painting sessions
shortened because of low temperatures I would sometimes give
up my will to succeed which often led to some of my favorite
work.
In addition to plein air, I love exploring color through still life,
portrait and non-objective abstraction. I am very excited to
participate in MAST as a new artist this year.
