Painting is something that up until my retirement I have not been able to devote the time to that I would have liked!

I starting my interest in the arts in high school and went on to take graphic design ,illustration and fashion design at Sheridan College. After graduating I worked in Toronto in the field of fashion design and fashion illustration for 8 years. I relocated to the KW area, by then I realized my desire to become more involved in the visual arts after having taken some night school classes at OCA while still in Toronto.  I continued then to take credits at the University of Guelph in painting , life drawing and art history , hoping to finish my degree. That didn’t happen as marriage, children and the need for a “real job” did and unfortunately there was little opportunity to return to fashion design in the area.

Over the years I’ve continued to take courses on a part time basis as well as life drawing sessions with local artists …I’ve been able to do commissions of drawings and paintings for friends and acquaintances as well as being involved with the Pastel society where I had a painting receive 2nd place honours in their juried show at the Kitchener Art Gallery!

Now that I am able to paint on a regular basis I’ve taken courses at the Dundas Valley School of Art to develop my skills with oil and acrylic painting. Recently I had 2 of my works chosen to be in their juried show.

I hope in the near future to have a body of work to present for gallery shows as well as finding opportunities to sell my work… and of course to continue with my passion for painting!
