Wes Wikkerink has taught Art for many years at Woodland Christian High and also at Rosebud School of the Arts in Alberta. Now that he has retired from teaching, he finally has time to dedicate to creating.
Morning walks, which often involve looking closely at the patterns found in nature and discovering surprises when looking closely are his greatest inspiration. He finds the interconnectedness of things a good starting point for also connecting his chosen art medium with others, the most obvious example of this in his recent work is creating driftwood frames for his driftwood/stump photography series.
